Do you hate the appearance of your teeth? If so, you can learn about the benefits of recontouring teeth with our cosmetic dentist. We are proud to offer a number of solutions that are designed to fix the shape, size, and color of your teeth. For many people, dental recontouring is exactly what they need to give their smile that attractive, movie star look they are after. Most people are a good candidate for this treatment. To find out if teeth recontouring is right for you, schedule an appointment with us and let us review the current condition of your teeth as well as your goals for the future.
The first thing that we are going to do when you visit our office is to examine your teeth via x-ray. We want to look at the overall condition and health of your teeth and the location of the pulp. Then we will sit down and talk with you about the things that you like and the things that you don’t like about your smile. Based on those pieces of information, we will be able to create a plan to correct problems with your teeth.
After we’ve ironed out all the details, we will sit with you and walk you through the process. In the majority of cases, the treatment starts with a mild anesthesia. For most patients, that’s all they need to numb the area that we are going to work on. If more anesthesia is needed or if other types of sedation are requested, we can work with you in that regard as well.
The next step is making marks on your teeth. These marks are a guide that we can use in determining what parts of the enamel we need to get rid of for recontouring teeth. We are going to use a mixture of abrasive strips and dental tools to get rid of tiny pieces of enamel that are making your teeth look less than perfect. Once we get rid of the bothersome extra enamel, we are going to smooth out your teeth and polish them.
More times and not, we will use some sort of dental bonding material to give your teeth the final look. What’s nice about the bonding material that we use is that it is the same color as your teeth. So when it’s used in conjunction with recontouring, it gives your teeth a nice smooth appearance. We use a special dental light to harden the bonding material, making sure that the bonding material is as strong as your natural teeth.
We pride ourselves on having both the technical skill and the artistic eye to give you the look that you want by recontouring teeth. Once the treatment is done, you’ll be able to review the appearance of your teeth. Many people visit us because they want all of their teeth to be the same size or are concerned about crooked or cracked teeth.
